Melissa Gaboriau Auf der Maur (born March 17, 1972) is a Canadian rock musician of Franco-Swiss ancestry, who currently resides in Montreal, Quebec. She is also a published photographer. The name “Maur”, pronounced to rhyme with “power”, is derived from the German word for wall (Mauer), thus her full surname can be literally translated as “Off the Wall”.

Agent M (whose real name is Emily Grace Whitehurst), born July 23, 1979 grew up in Los Banos and was the lead singer of the California based punk band Tsunami Bomb until their breakup in September of 2005. She is the sister of fellow musician the late Logan Whitehurst.

Whitehurst joined Tsunami Bomb in 1998 after the departure of original vocalist Kristin McRory. Whitehurst adopted the stage name Agent M at this time, and used it throughout her stay in the band. In 2000 Tsunami Bomb signed to Tomato Head Records and released their debut EP The Invasion From Within, which would prove to be the top-selling release of the band’s career. Their first full-length CD, The Ultimate Escape, followed in 2002. In 2004, the band released a final recording, The Definitive Act, on Kung Fu Records. Tsunami Bomb split up the following year. The members of Tsunami Bomb parted on good terms with each other.

Whitehurst and former Tsunami Bomb bassist Matt McKenzie have recently formed another band, The Action Design, with drummer Brett Friesen from Ariel Mile. Whitehurst has said that The Action Design, will be different from Tsunami Bomb, embracing a more experimental approach. In interviews, Whitehurst has cited Green Day and The Smiths as her biggest musical inspirations, saying her dream duet would be with Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day. She is reportedly also a fan of the band Glassjaw and Daryl Palumbo’s subsequent band, Head Automatica.

Over the years, Whitehurst has made guest appearances on several other other bands’ recordings, including the song My Town and Twins on Guttermouth’s record Gusto. She also performed guest vocal on her brother Logan’s album, Goodbye, My 4-Track. Agent M performed a song with The Bouncing Souls when Tsunami Bomb supported them on tour.

Brett Anderson was born on May 30, 1979, in Bloomington, Indiana. She moved to Palo Alto, California in the 7th grade. She was approached by bandmates Allison Robertson and Maya Ford in the 8th grade to sing for their band. Although she had no experience in singing at the time, she accepted and played their first show with The Donnas (then called Screen) and are still together today.

Christina Joy Amphlett (born October 25, 1959, Geelong, Victoria, Australia) is the lead singer for Australian Rock band Divinyls. She is also known as Chrissie Amphlett.

She grew up in Geelong as a singer and dancer. She left home as a teenager and travelled to England, France and Spain where she was thrown into prison for three months for singing on the streets.

She is the cousin of another Australian singer, Little Pattie (Patricia Amphlett).

Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963) is an American pianist and singer-songwriter. She is married to English sound engineer Mark Hawley. Together they have one daughter, Natashya “Tash” L√≥rien Hawley, born on September 5, 2000.

Amos was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and was noteworthy early in her career as one of the few music stars to use a piano as her primary instrument. She is known for emotionally intense songs that cover a wide range of subjects including sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. Some of her charting singles are “Crucify”, “Silent All These Years”, “Cornflake Girl”, “Caught a Lite Sneeze”, “Professional Widow”, and “Spark”. Other significant recordings include “Me and a Gun”, “Winter”, “God”, “Playboy Mommy” and “A Sorta Fairytale”.

Amos has had two double Platinum, three Platinum, and one Gold album in the United States, and has also enjoyed a large cult following. She is also known for making eccentric and at times ribald comments during interviews and in concerts, lending her a reputation as being highly individualistic.
